Journey to Courier

Updated: Sep 21, 2022

Leaving the world of employee and moving over to entrepreneurship is an interesting journey. I don't want to say it can be like a roller coaster (as cliche as it sounds) but it is. I have had so many emotions and moments where I ask myself what in the world am I doing to getting so excited and proud of myself that I procrastinate from moving forward.

I'm learning the business of courier or rather the system to the business which is fairly easy. You get a name; you get licensed and registered with your state and get insurance. Make sure all your documents are in order and boom you're ready to go right?!

Ugh, wrong!

Starting a courier service, errand service is all about what you have to offer to your customers. It's about customer service, sales, marketing and really branding yourself to the people you want to work for. You have to find your niche and if you combine niches you have to be sure that you are specific about what you do and what you don't do. In this case listing your services is really helpful. Write down what task you perform and what your service does exactly. That way there are no questions about what you offer.

When starting this journey, I wanted my website to standout and be unique but also to attract the customers in a modern way. Using platforms like Canva really helped me to find the look of my business and how I wanted Daily Duties Delivery LLC to be represented. Canva has so many designs and templates for all kinds of marketing material. They have even more options when you buy the pro version. I spent a few days going through brochure templates, but I wanted to be sure I was picking something that resonated with the vision for Daily Duties Delivery LLC

.

Finding the right photos was one of the major challenges I faced because I didn't like any of the stock photo's I found on Shutter Stock (which always has great stock photo's) or the website. This is where your creativity must kick in. You don't want to copy what everyone else is doing. You want to be original and have your own style but also be relatable and professional. I decided to create my own stock photos (which I had a blast making with my sisters) so that I can have original photos and stand out. When starting anything new, stay as creative as possible. Do research. Find inspiration from others who are doing what you want to do or find what is not being done and do that. Thats how you stay innovative. I am always researching companies with errand services and delivery

courier services because it inspires me to know that what I have to offer is a need and keeps me innovative to start something new.

Once my flyers were printed, there was no turning back. I got that Canva package, and my heart and soul were so happy and filled with joy. So much so that I prepared my mind to go out the next day and solicit my services. LOL... Little did I know I would take a closer look at this brochure that had a number of errors. Make sure you proofread what you print out or publish. It's how you're representing your business. Your website must be in line also with what you print on that flyer. You must have integrity and be willing to fix any mistakes because this all makes an impression on your potential customers.

I'm still learning and have every intention on sharing my journey and what I used and have done. I am going to use this platform to journal my journey. I'd like to say that I'm going out now to share those business flyers, but I am currently correcting some wrongs on my website. Tomorrow though its go time. Sales is the next topic. Stick with me like a post it! Until then, chao!
